It's Pub Week!
This Isn't New launches on Thurs 5/21, and I'm celebrating with a giveaway!
I’m excited for the release of This Isn’t New: Women’s Historical Stories on Thursday, May 21, 2026! To celebrate, I’m giving away signed copies to two subscribers to The What If Journal. No need to do anything to enter; if you’re a subscriber, you’re in the running (U.S. physical addresses only). I’ll announce winners in the next edition of The What If Journal.
Now that we have that out of the way, some thoughts on pub week:
This shit is way harder than it used to be. Seems like it should work in the opposite direction, right? Like, every book launch should be easier and smoother than the one before it???
Yeah, no. I don’t know if this is true for other authors, but I find that getting a book into the world—and having enough people notice to give you those authorly warm-fuzzies—is an increasingly steep uphill climb. Our political and social climate, combined with the explosion of book releases every year (AI generated books, anyone?) play heavily into this.
The above being said, I’m grateful, as always, for the opportunity to share my words with the world. I wouldn’t be making this uphill climb at all if I wasn’t publishing my 5th (!!!) book this week. It’s kind of like being grateful for your legs when you’re hiking a precipitous mountain trail. Your limbs might hurt like hell, but they enable you to make your way up that steep-pitch path.
Great! So Where Can I Get a Copy?

So glad you asked! Here are options:
Visit your local indie bookstore (find one here) to grab a print copy of This Isn’t New. If you don’t see it on their shelves (due to the fact that I’m indie-pubbing This Isn’t New, chances are you won’t see it stacked beside Yesteryear or the latest James Patterson), please ask them to order you a copy. This Isn’t New is available via traditional book distribution channels, which means that any indie bookstore in the U.S., as well as many international stores, can order a copy for you. Bonus: if enough readers ask, a store will often stock additional copies.
If there’s no indie bookstore near you, check out Bookshop dot org. This online shop supports indie bookstores—a win-win for everyone.
This Isn’t New is available in ebook wherever ebooks are sold, including that enormous retailer that starts with A. That retailer also carries the print version—but please consider supporting indie bookstores if you can. And if you’re looking for alternative ebook options, here are a bunch of them.
Similarly (and not quite as big), Barnes & Noble carries This Isn’t New in both print and ebook. As with an indie bookstore, you’ll probably have to ask them to order you a print copy if you walk into a physical B&N store.
No audiobook yet, unfortunately. I hope to add one at some point. I’ll keep you posted!
What If I Want You to Sign My Copy?
If you’re in the Denver metro, that’s easy—come to one of my events!
I hope to add more events over the summer and fall; stay tuned to my website Events page for details.
If you live elsewhere and would like me to do an event in your area, please get in touch. I’m happy to brainstorm ideas with you!
Cool. What Else Are You Up To?
Gearing up for a few workshops and panels! Here’s where you can catch me in a writerly way in the coming weeks:
Again, check my website Events page for details and registration.
Alright, Enough About You Already. We Get It!
Thanks! I’m glad you get it. I truly appreciate you indulging me—and on behalf of authors everywhere, thank you for indulging us especially during pub week. As I said above, this shit is hard, and your support means the world.
Good luck in the giveaway! If you win, I’ll email you within a few days.

Ordered my copy from Bookshop.org. Can't wait.
