It might -- you're right. The idea with the Three Sisters is you plant the beans at the base of the cornstalks (once they're strong enough to support the growing bean vines). Then you plant the squash around them, so the large squash leaves can help keep the soil from overheating. Last year, we had everything way too crowded, and we started much later than we should have.
